The urgency of this work cannot be overstated: more than 80% of maternal deaths are considered preventable.i Strong Start & Beyond has set a bold goal of reducing California’s maternal mortality rate by 50%.
This initiative brings together healthcare providers, community organizations, and public health leaders to drive progress through increased awareness, expanded education, and improved access to care before, during, and after pregnancy.
The Strong Start & Beyond initiative’s Preconception Medical Assessment, known as PreMA, is an evidence-based tool designed to help individuals better understand how their current health may affect a future pregnancy.
